"Update to my previous review: I finally made it in line early enough to get a good spot. Maybe about a 10 minute wait. Was it worth it? I could've waited an hour and it would still be worth it. This food is so heavenly delicious! My mouth was already watering as I stood in line watching the meat being grilled to perfection and as I got closer to the food, my head was spinning trying to narrow down what I should choose. Since it was 9 am, I decided to get a breakfast plate, the Grilled Silog value meal with two meats, garlic rice and two eggs. For the two meats I bordered longanisa and corned beef hash. I also ordered a foot long turon and a pound of chicharron. Oooohweee! Everything tastes so good and my belly feels like a stuffed pig. No complaints. I couldn't even finish everything, so I took some to go. My advice? Come soon and come hungry! Why are you still reading this review? Go get in line now! Disclaimer*** I did not eat here yet. I tried! I really tried!! The line was outrageous!!! I'm not mad at them. The food looks and smells delicious. Located inside of Seafood City Grocery Store. I came for lunch...line out the door. Came back at 2:30 pm. Line still out the door! The atmosphere is vibrant. Lots of families eating and enjoying themselves. Lots of conversation in the air. Very friendly and communal vibe. I'll be back soon. Hope I can get there early and find a good spot in line."
"Packed! Came to Sugarland just to experience Seafood City on a long weekend and most Filipinos drove from different cities to experience a piece of home. So worth it. The night we came we ordered chicharon bulaklak, Laing, bopis, squid, grilled fish and our tummy was happy. The next day we ordered take out of grilled fish, halo halo ($10 for two!). The line was long all the way to the entrance of the seafood city for more than two hours. But everybody was polite and enjoying the karaoke going on promoting a concert in October for Gary V. Must come!!!"
"Love the pork BBQ as always. They now have a bowl which you can see at a kiosk inside Seafood City and eat at Grill City. It's very affordable. The line was not long at 6PM on a Monday."
"Been excited to try this place for awhile now. Pork skewers were great and absolutely love their spiced vinegar recipe. I've tried to replicate but cant figure it out. They ran out of pancit 2 hours before close and had no intentions on making more. Lumpia was some of the worst I've tried."
"Grill City is located inside Seafood City Market. In the first few weeks, from its initial operation, I've heard about bad feedback from customers like people have to wait long lines just to buy their food. Nowadays, things are a bit organized and a little better. With regards to foods, they do offer a wide selection of all-time Filipino favorite dishes like sisig, sinigang, adobo, crispy pata, dinuguan, ginataang puso ng saging, and much more. On the grilled foods, they do have grilled pork belly, grilled squid, grilled pompano, and pork BBQ. I ordered the pork BBQ, and it does taste good. The grilled squid tasted fair. They also have a lot of Filipino dessert to choose from. To name a few are turon, camote-q, ginataang bolo, bilo, Halo-halo, and much more. Despite a few flaws from the start, I'm sure a lot of people will be back to experience the taste of flavors that they missed from the Philippines. I wouldn't mind coming back for sure!"
"We go to Grill City despite the long drive because previous experiences of coming to this place have been really good. We love the food, the service, and the atmosphere. However, the latest visit was pretty disappointing. We came on a Saturday around 12:30 pm and got in line to order. The line was quite long, and it took about 40 minutes before we were able to order. We ordered crispy pata, bopis, pinakbet, palabok, chicharong bulaklak, and vegetable lumpia. At the time, they had already run out of crispy pata. Also, the servers were quite unorganized in taking orders. By the time we sat down and got ready to eat, almost an hour had passed. We also noticed that their bopis was different. There were a lot more liver and so much less of the other meat this time compared to previous. I love eating liver, but not that much. Overall, City Grill is still a great place to come and eat Filipino food, but our latest experience proved that you can't always count on getting the same quality food and service that you might expect."
"Pork BBQ was delicious, long wait time but that’s expected. Also tried the Dinakdakan and I thought that was great."
"Expect to wait in a long line for cafeteria style Filipino food at restaurant prices. I'm sitting here now at 6 pm and there's at least 50+ people in line at this very moment. You'll spend at least $20 per person for food. $30 if you want to add dessert, halo halo, or an egg roll. It was delicious but on the pricey side. Overall I enjoyed my time here. It really felt like a cultural experience with everyone being Filipino and speaking tagalog! And a huge variety of dishes I've never seen before. People were friendly and I received good service...especially that one cute cashier!"
